my week in quotes & pictures

Sunday
"After a certain age, there's no one left to turn to.
you've got
To find the small crack
between here and everywhere else all by yourself.

How could it be otherwise?
Everyone's gone away, the houses are all empty,
And overcast starts to fill the sky like soiled insulation."
-Charles Wright

Monday
"You're a miracle, Ronnie. We're all miracles. Know why? Because as humans, every day we go about our business, and all that time we know... we all know... that the things we love... the people we love, at any time now can all be taken away. We live knowing that and we keep going anyway."
-May McGorvey to Ronald James McGorvey in Little Children

Tuesday
"Far away far away, I want to go far away
To a new life on a new shore line
Where the water is blue and the people are new
To another island, in another life."
-Ingrid Michaelson, "Far Away"

Wednesday
"I want my will, and I want to be with my will
as it moves towards deed;
and in those quiet, somehow hesitating times,
when something is approaching,
I want to be with those who are wise
or else alone."
-Rainier Maria Wilke

Thursday

"Don't you know that when you sleep with someone, your body makes a promise whether you do or not?"

-Julie, played by Cameron Diaz, in Vanilla Sky

Friday

"When something bad happens
we play it back in our minds,
looking for a place to step in
and change things...
But even the hero
who stands up to chance has to feel
how far the world will bend
until it breaks him."
-Lawrence Raab

Saturday
"I'm a diva, you best believe her, you see her, she getting paid. She ain't callin' him to greet her, don't need him, her bed's made."
-Beyonce, "Diva"

Wilting

Wait for a word to fall from someone else's lips, now.

Wait for your name to be called when they've all given in.

Wait for a reason to lift up your head, and take back what you said.

You didn't mean it, but you'll never tell.

Watch for a wind to blow everyone's houses down.

Call the witch to come strike what you love to the ground.

Hope for a reason to wander off to somewhere new.

You didn't mean it, but you'll never tell.

Walk the streets still waiting for you, parting their lips to engulf you in.

Walk the streets, don't think of me, don't let yourself be anything but cold.

You're growing old now...

Take care of you now, or, who else will?

Tire of the abuses.

Let no light back in.

Seek out stronger excuses.

Swear off taller men.

Wilt away at any day that beckons you to bloom.

Flee from your fears and sign up where there's room.

Take up your time

wait in line

and walk it till you die.

You can say you didn't mean it,

but you know you'll never tell.

Stage Three of Grief

Wait one more minute.
Take my breath back
to where I lent it
to you.
Wait another day
for the love you let fade
to come back
to you.
Wait another hour or so
before you let this go,
before you leave behind everything we had.
I want to be mad,
but I'm too sad,
I'm too broken and burdened
on you.
Wait for maybe one more day
when I come your way.
Maybe then you'll see it..
that thing.. (you felt it).
Remember me and the touch of my hand
and my lips on your skin
and the way you felt like falling
all over again.
Maybe you'll see it then,
if you come back my way.
Wait one more day,
give it one more moment
before you let yourself surrender
what I know you felt for me.
Don't tell yourself it's over.
Don't say you didn't mean it,
or that I didn't mean a thing.
I know you meant those
words you said to me.
Tell me this is just a dream
and when I wake,
we'll be back there to where
you lifted me up into you.
Say it isn't true -
that the only lies are the ones that say
we're through,
that I'm the girl for you and
that you're my man, too.
Say it's simple.
Say you'll have me
always, and
say these days without you
are over,
that we're not over, and
say you meant to say

forever.
